Lucy Torres has this answer when asked about her political plan
Leyte 4th District Representative Lucy Torres was asked if she will run for Senator in the 2022 elections and here is her answer to this.
Rumors circulating that President Rodrigo Duterte is considering the wife of Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez to be in his party’s senatorial lineup.
However, Lucy clarified something about this, based on the article in PEP. “Huwag po nating pangunahan si Presidente. I don’t want to be misconstrued that he is pushing me. Ayokong pangunahan,” she said.
The congresswoman also said that it is not a thing that seemed to be her dream because she was already offered to run for senator in 2016 and this was repeated in 2019.
“It was never an ambition or a dream. Ang sa akin lang, if maybe I’m given the opportunity, it’s one of those things that only time can tell. So, let’s see by October what the landscape is. Let’s see how things are rolled out,” she clarified.
Lucy Torres also said that if she will be given a chance to run for senator, then, it won’t be like an “OJT-kind-of thing” for her because of the experience she had in public service in 11 years.
The actress-turned-politician added that she has an option to run for Mayor in Ormoc. “Richard will most probably take my place in Congress. And then, ako naman, I have options. Richard and I can just switch. Pero wala pang ano, nothing is cast in stones,” she said. For Lucy Torres, her public service is a thing that was never pre-planned, it just happened.
