Sabal was quietly captured by the CIDG at the Port of Batangas last night, but on his route to Camp Crame, he seized a revolver and was shot by the police. He was sent to a hospital in San Juan, but he was proclaimed dead as soon as he arrived.

Six other Sabal colleagues will face charges, including Norayda Nandang, Muhaliden Mukaram, Aika de Asis, Ailyn Compania, Zuharto Monico, and William Santos, who were arrested last night in the operation. Six people are now being held at the CIDG-NCR detention center.

Sabal was discovered with six high-caliber weapons, ammunition, magazines, 400 grams of shabu, identification cards, and P200,000.00 in cash. According to Eleazar, they are still looking into whether the firearms seized from Sabal’s gang will be used in the next elections.

Sabal was also implicated in the 2016 Davao City attack, according to the PNP Chief. According to the records, the suspect served in the Philippine National Police Special Action Force (PNP SAF) from 1998 to 2010 before entering politics.

Sabal is believed to be knowledgeable in intelligence, urban counter-terrorism training, explosives and ordnance disposal, and sniper training. Eleazar praised the CIDG, as well as other operative units and law enforcement organizations, for their efforts.

Sabal’s demise will have a significant influence on the BIFF’s guns and explosives supply network, which is responsible for the Maguindanao and nearby areas attacks and explosions. Eleazar also stated that, in accordance with protocol, the PNP Internal Affairs Service (IAS) will launch a motu-propio investigation into Sabal’s death while in police custody.
