Maskless Christmas Possible If Vaccinations Ramp Up Says OCTA
MASKLESS CHRISTMAS – For almost a year, the Philippines, along with the rest of the world had to make face masks mandatory.
However, with the presence of COVID-19 vaccines, the Philippines could actually have a maskless Christmas according to the OCTA research group. But, given the sentiments toward vaccination, the government still faces problems.
According to Dr. Nicanor Austriaco Jr., a maskless Christmas could be seen this year if over 250,000 residents in NCR Plus get vaccinated daily. During an interview with ABS-CBN, Austriaco said:
It is very possible that we can do that in the NCR plus 8, we have to vaccinate about 250,000 Filipinos everyday for the next 4 to 5 months, it is possible there seems to be enough supply arriving now so our hope and prayer is that if the Filipino people especially in the NCR plus 8 want a no mask Christmas, then we will all be vaccinated
Previously, Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez Jr., said that the government aims to achieve herd immunity come November of this year. As such, the government has continued to ramp up its vaccination campaign.
Meanwhile, Philippine General Hospital Spokesperson Dr. Jonas Del Rosario said that the government should organize their vaccination scheme better if they aim for a Maskless Christmas.
As per the article, Del Rosario said:
I think we have to think for out of the box solutions to even bring the vaccine to the people na parang halos mas convenient. Minsan the supplies are already there, sana naman pagbagsak na pagbagsak ng vaccine in a few days nabigay mo na yan, hindi yan parang natutulog sa pansitan
