According to presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, the travel restrictions cover travelers from India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Oman, and United Arab Emirates. It is in the pursuit to prevent the entry of cases of Delta COVID-19 variant which was first detected in India.

Previously, the World Health Organization (WHO) tagged the Delta variant as a variant that countries must really watch out for. Currently, countries are rolling out the vaccines against COVID-19.

In the Philippines, a huge part of the healthcare workers have already been vaccinated. Many healthcare professionals are even fully-vaccinated now. The vaccination of the senior citizens and those people with co-morbidities have also started already.

Currently, the PH national government is targeting the major vaccination of the essential workers and the poor Filipinos. The pursuit is for population protection against coronavirus.
