Liza Soberano: This Is How She Bagged Chance To Voice Alexandra Trese

This is how Liza Soberano snatched the opportunity to be the voice of Alexandra Trese.

LIZA SOBERANO – Kapamilya actress Liza Soberano went through this to secure the role to voice the lead character in Netflix’s “Trese”.

What has made everyone get excited is hearing the voice of Kapamilya actress Liza Soberano in “Trese”. The official trailer of the animated series dubbed in Tagalog used the actress’ voice and it immediately went viral online. It is directed by Rudolf Baldonado.

Other local voice talents alongside Soberano included Simon dela Cruz (Crispin and Basilio), Apollo Abraham (Captain Guerrero), Christopher Carlo Caling (Hank), Christian Velarde (Nuno), and Eugene Adalia (Anton Trese). In the English counterpart, the voice of Filipino-Canadian actress Shay Mitchell of “Pretty Little Liars” was used.

The series has six episodes and it premiered on Netflix last June 11. The story is about Alexandra Trese’s missions and encounters with Philippine folklore and horror figures such as tiyanaks, engkanto, tikbalang, and others. The story goes around the criminalities in the supernatural world.

Before its premiere, netizens gushed about how it was promoted. In a previous article, the billboards were vandalized and torn. However, the culprits “caught on camera” were not human being – they were someone with supernatural powers and horrific faces. The creativity to promote the series earned positive and impressed remarks online.

Now, how did Liza get the chance to voice the lead character? Tanya, one of the show’s scriptwriters, revealed that they already have a shortlist and went on discussion as to who could be the best fit to voice the role. Their shortlist accordingly narrowed down to Soberano who is popular and someone who also has the natural ability to deliver the role.

“We felt that her range would be a great surprise for everyone to see, she could pull off a role like this and she worked very hard, she read everything and she just put her whole heart and soul into doing it and the hard work pays off and we believe that she did really really well,” she explained as per PEP.
