The suspect’s family called the police station after he allegedly had a nervous breakdown, according to Major Raymond Celoso, chief of the Sta. Barbara Municipal Police Station. In an interview with Bomboradyo, Celoso said that when they arrived at the suspect’s house, they attempted to calm him down, but he grew hostile and attempted to knife him.

As a result, the responding police officers shot him, killing him. The suspect, who had been diagnosed with depression, died as a result of gunshot wounds.

Meanwhile, three police recruits who submitted fake RT-PCR test results were dismissed and charged by PNP Chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar. The three police applicants were busted during the ongoing recruiting at the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR).

Three of the 66 applicants in PRO BAR, according to Eleazar, have been disqualified and are now facing criminal charges. In Lanao Del Sur, some 45 other police applications are still being investigated.
