Police, 2 Other Individuals Arrested by Authorities Over Illegal Gambling in Laoag City

Authorities arrested police and two (2) other individuals involved in an illegal gambling held in Brgy. Balaoai, Pagudpud, Laoag City.

During the operation, investigators arrested three people, including a police officer, for illicit gaming. Lt. Wyrlo Gatoc, the deputy chief of the Ilocos Norte CIDG, corroborated this. Rosemarie dela Cruz, Jenny Calventas, and PNP-Pagudpud member Staff Sgt. Julius Cesar Tagle is the accused, according to Gatoc.

According to him, the offenders were apprehended after a concerned citizen reported illicit gaming in the barangay. As a result, police were dispatched to the scene, where they discovered the suspects playing a card game known as “tong-its.”

A deck of cards and P5,000 in bet money were seized from the suspects, according to Gatoc. While the case against them was being developed, the suspects remained in the custody of the PNP.

Meanwhile, a young lad died after being beaten and stabbed by a group of guys participating in a pigeon race. A man who went to another barangay to claim his winning bet for a pigeon race was unable to return home alive.

Based on the previous article, when the victim arrived at the suspects’ camp to get his P1,000 win, he was allegedly chased and beaten. The victim manage to flee but fell down resulting him to be cornered and stabbed him four times in the back.
