Start of Rainy Season in the Philippines Following Heavy Rains by Dante
RAINY SEASON IN THE PHILIPPINES – State weather bureau PAGASA announced the start of the wet season in the Philippines this June.
PH got a tropical monsoon climate type – it has two (2) main seasons – the wet or rainy season and the dry season. The latter can be further sub-divided into two (2) – the cool dry season and the hot dry season.
The wet season or the rainy season in the country starts in June and it is usually until the early part of October. In the later part of October, the cool dry season usually begins and it lasts until February. From March to May, the Filipinos experience the hot dry season.
Undeniably, the intensity of the dry season this 2021 has alarmed a lot of people. Many can’t even stand the intense heat and had to have their air-conditioner at home on for the entire day. Even the authorities warned the public to be extra careful following the heat index releases.

Now that May is over, the Filipinos are expecting a different scenario – rainy days might be more often now. Recently, the country was struck by a tropical cyclone, Dante, which brought heavy rains to several areas in the country.
Dante is the fourth tropical cyclone that entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this 2021. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, it made six (6) landfalls at its peak and it left six (6) people dead and over P63 million worth of damage in the agricultural field.
visit: PAGASA Says Tropical Depression Dante Intensifies Into Tropical Storm
Recently, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced the start of the rainy season in the Philippines.
“The passage of Tropical Storm Dante and the occurrence of widespread rainfall monitored by PAGASA in the last 5 days for areas under Type I climate confirm the onset of the rainy season,” the state weather bureau said.
According to PAGASA, as the rainy season in the Philippines has started, “near to above” usual rainfall may take place this June until July. There might also be occasional monsoon breaks which can happen for several days or even weeks.
