TIELCO Lineman Lost His Life After Accidental Electrocution While Repairing Power Lines

A TIELCO lineman in San Agustin, Romblon has tragically lost his life after accidental electrocution while performing his duty. 

Around 2:45 PM on Friday afternoon, a heartbreaking incident happened in San Agustin, Romblon, when a lineman of the Tablas Island Electric Cooperative (TIELCO) died while reparing power lines.  

The victim, known by the alias Carlo, was 40 years old, married, and a resident of Barangay Libertad in Odiongan. He was working on a power line high above a TIELCO post when the accident happened.

According to initial findings from the San Agustin Municipal Police Station and the Romblon Provincial Police Office, he was fixing electrical lines when he accidentally came into contact with a live wire. 

The strong electric shock left him unconscious on top of the post. Responders from the police, the Bureau of Fire Protection, and the local disaster risk reduction team rushed to the area after receiving the report. 

The responders found Carlo unresponsive and immediately worked together to bring him down safely from the post.

Emergency workers moved quickly and brought him to the Tablas Island District Hospital in San Agustin. Despite their efforts and the medical team’s immediate examination, he was declared dead on arrival. 

The incident has left the community shaken, especially those who knew Carlo as a hardworking lineman who simply wanted to do his job and help keep power running in their area. Residents expressed sadness over his untimely death, noting how linemen put their safety on the line every day to restore electricity and maintain essential services.
