PNP-IMEG Arrested a Police, 4 Others for Robbery Extortion in Pampanga

PNP-IMEG arrested police and 4 other accomplice in Pampanga after they were accused of robbery extortion and were caught in the act.

After they were found extorting money from truck drivers, operatives from the Philippine National Police-Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (PNP-IMEG) detained a police officer and four members of the Truck Ban Traffic Management Office in Apalit, Pampanga.

The suspects were captured in the act taking money from a truck driver with an undercover agent this morning beside the Caltex Gas station along Quezon Road Mc Arthur Highway at San Simon Exit, Apalit, Pampanga, according to PNP IMEG Director PBgen. Thomas Frias.

PCPL Leomar Calegan was the person arrested. Marlon De Guzman, Menard Mendoza, Michael Maniulit, and Noel Manarang, four members of Apalit’s Truck Ban Traffic Management Office, were revealed as his accomplices.

The suspects were discovered in possession of more than P800,000 in cash. The money was allegedly had gathered from truck drivers who had traveled through the region overnight.

The suspects were taken to the IMEG-Luzon Field Unit and will be prosecuted with breaking the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act (RA 3019), the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Government Employees (RA 6713), and Robbery Extortion (RA 6713).
