Andrea Meza Miss Universe Gown Copied & Not An Original Design?

Lebanese designer Nadim Soudaiha calls out Andrea Meza gown designer for copying the gown he did years ago.

ANDREA MEZA – Crowned Miss Universe 2020 from Mexico faces controversy regarding the originality of her winning red gown.

Previously, six years after winning Miss Universe 2015 title, Pia Wurtzbach faced accusation because her iconic blue gown was accordingly just a copy of American singer-actress Keke Palmer’s gown created by Russian couturier Rubin Singer. Pinoy fashion designer Albert Andrada was the one who made Pia’s gown for the 64th Miss Universe and there’s definitely a resemblance between the two gowns.

And just recently, newly-crowned Miss Universe 2020 Andrea Meza also faced the same accusations. The new beauty queen wore a red gown created by Mexican designer Ivis Lenin during the 69th Miss Universe pageant.

On Instagram, Lenin proudly shared his creation saying, “Gracias por confiar en mi y hacerme parte de este sueño que hoy es una realidad. Mexico tenemos nuestra tercera miss universo.”

The caption means, “Thank you for trusting me and making me part of this dream that is now a reality. Mexico we have our third Miss Universe.”

And with this, Kuwait-based Lebanese designer Nadim Soudaiha calls out Meza’s gown designer for allegedly copying his design for fashion house La Bourjoisie way back in 2017. According to Kuwait Times, the Lebanese designer stressed that his design was copied and the two gowns are only different in color.

The creation of the Lebanese was in gold and worn by Carrie Underwood when she hosted 51st Annual Country Music Awards last November 9, 2017 in Nashville, Tennessee.

“It took me around 10 days to design this dress that was made from tulle with Swarovski crystals and fringe beads but stylist Jacob de Alba revealed in an Instagram post that Andrea’s gown was designed by Ivis Lenin, and that this haute couture dress took almost a year to put together,” Nadim added.
