RICHARD GORDON – The Senator broke his silence on the possibility of running for president again in the 2022 Elections.

The next presidential election in the Philippines is set to take place a year from now. Many people are curious on who might take the race for the highest post in the national government in the 2022 Elections most especially that the country is faced in a huge battle now.

The threats of the COVID-19 virus is still present in the Philippines. The World Health Organization (WHO) has previously warned that it may be a long-term battle for several nations.

In PH, the total COVID-19 cases has surpassed the 1-million mark already. Hospitals are filled with patients and the whole country is still under community quarantine measures now.

Several popular personalities in the political arena did not give a definite answer about the possibility that they will run for president in the 2022 elections. But as for Senator Richard Gordon, he would be lying if he would say that he is not considering it.

Speaking at the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Inc.’s virtual forum, the Senator expressed that his camp is studying it. Based on the report, he is also making consultations to other people and he will have decided by October.

In case Sen. Richard Gordon will run for president in the 2022 elections, it will be the second time that he took the race for presidency. He was one of the presidential candidates in 2010 where former Pres. Noynoy Aquino was elected as the Chief Executive.

According to Sen. Gordon, if God will give him strength and the people will give him “the greatest gift”, he knows what to do if he sits as government. He even expressed that he can “sit down today” and he “will not miss a beat”.

The Senator is currently the chairman of the Philippine Red Cross. He believes that the Philippines needs to boost its vaccination and testing procedures to arrest the spread of COVID-19.
