Netizens bashed Robin Padilla due to his recent statement
Actor Robin Padilla was attacked by netizens because of his claim that the De La Salle University (DLSU) was established by Spaniards for “for insulares, peninsulares and mestizos”.
A known supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte, Robin is one of the celebrities who vocally share their political views and opinions about social issues online. Through his social media accounts and interviews, the action star would speak his mind with the intention to show his patriotism.
Based on the article in Inquirer, this recent claim of Robin came after he defended Senator Bong Go for saying that Lapu-Lapu was Tausug. A netizen slammed the actor and the latter questioned the educational background of the former.
“You got to be kidding. Are you from Ateneo? De La Salle? UST? All Spanish established schools for insulares, peninsulares and mestizos. You don’t need to be a doctor of anything to accept reality,” Robin Padilla said.
Because of this statement of the action star, the history advocacy group High School Philippine History Movement corrected him. The group clarified that DLSU was actually established by the Americans.
“Ang De La Salle University (DLSU-Manila) ay itinatag noong June 16, 1911 noong panahon ng mga Amerikano,” the history advocacy group stated in its Facebook post.
