The motive for the murder, according to investigators, was a long-standing feud between the perpetrator and the victim. When the perpetrator settled down, he reportedly filled up because his rent was raised by P1,000, and his family was subsequently evicted.

The landlord is often said to have always said hurtful things to him. The defendant claims he had no intention of killing anyone. He will face the murder charge that has been brought against him.

MPD had previously arrested the top three most wanted men in Manila, who were wanted for murder and reportedly leading a criminal gang. The perpetrator, who is alleged to be the chief of the Borja crime gang, is among the top three most wanted people in Manila. Their gang is suspected of being involved in a number of robbery hold-ups and is also known for selling drugs.
