Daniel Padilla: Ogie Diaz Reveals On Why He Didn’t Accept Him As Talent

Ogie Diaz shares the story of losing the chance to handle Daniel Padilla, one of the biggest stars now on the ABS-CBN network.

DANIEL PADILLA – This is a story from Ogie Diaz when he first met Daniel Padilla with whom he missed the chance to be handled as a talent.

A superstar on his own right and probably one of the highest-paid artists as of today is Daniel Padilla. Being in the middle of his 20s, he was able to achieve so much and more for himself, his career, and his family. He is currently in a relationship with Kathryn Bernardo, his on and off the camera partner. They have been together for over eight years now.

He joined the show business industry on 2010 and their love team came to prominence when they did the prime-time series entitled Princess and I (2012-2013). Throughout his career, he was able to make several full-length television series and successfl movie. He also did numerous concerts that filled the Araneta Coliseum.

Daniel is the son of Karla Estrada with Rommel Padilla and his mother first introduced to him to Ogie Diaz, a famous comedian, talent manager, radio host, and entertainment news reporter. In a dim-lighted bar, she went up to him and said this, “I-manage mo naman itong anak ko. Puwede ito, Og.”

However, being not able to see him fully in the middle of the darkroom, he revealed, “E, siyempre, sa dilim hindi ko makita. Sabi ko, ‘O, sige, pag may pagkakataon, ganyan, ganyan.”

But years later, the teenager he missed handling became big and now one of the most successful compared to his contemporaries. He expressed to PEP, “So, later on, pak! Lumaki siya. Pero wala ako kinalaman sa paglaki niya, sa pagsikat niya.”

The one who discovered Danield and introduced him to star-maker and former Star Magic Mr. Johnny Manahan is the late Douglas Quijano, who is also the one handling Richard Gomez. Mr. M revealed that when he first saw Daniel, he knew that he is going to be big. And now, years later and losing such an opportunity, Ogie shared that he didn’t had any regrets. He didn’t invest any of his emotions, money, and efforts to him, so there’s accordingly nothing he should feel bad about.

He even added, “Kung hindi kayo para sa isa’t isa, gagawa si Lord ng paraan na hindi ka mapunta sa tao na yun o mapunta ka sa isang tao na siyang magiging tulay sa success ng buhay mo.”

And with his big success as an actor, what Ogie liked most about him is that he remained humble and kind despite his showbiz stature.
