Barangay Watchmen Beats Water Delivery Rider and Allegedly Claims ‘Mineral Water’ Is Not Essential
Some barangay watchmen beat a water delivery rider at a checkpoint in Arayat, Pampanga and allegedly claimed that mineral water is not essential.
A water delivery ride identified as Jeffrey Mercado, who also owns the refilling water station filed a complaint against some village watchmen for beating and mauling him at a checkpoint in Barangay Plazang Luma in Arayat, Pampanga.
Mercado said that the barangay watchmen were apprehending his employees and barred them from entering the area. He decided to personally deliver the mineral water in the area.
Unfortunately, the barangay officials allegedly barred him from the area and told him that mineral water was not essential. He was also required to show a certification that can prove that he is negative for the coronavirus disease.
“Sabi sa’kin, kailangan may certification akong galing sa barangay na negative sila sa COVID. Sabi ko ‘tubig ‘to, bakit hindi niyo maintindihan?’” Mercado said.

The water delivery rider had an exchange of heated argument with the barangay officers, which leads into a fist fight. The village’s watchmen head Sonny Mariano admitted that he was the first to punch Mercado but explained that they were just doing their jobs.
Mariano also denied that they said the mineral water was not essential and asked the delivery employees to present an identification card upon entering the village. Eventually, the village watchmen apologized to Mercado for the wrongdoings.
