4-Kilo Edible Lobster Caught by Filipino Fishermen

LOBSTER – Some fishermen in Sinait, Ilocos Sur caught a giant sea creature that is weighing four (4) kilos, edible, and is one of the biggest of its kind in the Philippines.

Undeniably, the Philippines is one of the countries that are rich in natural resources. It also has a rich marine life that serves as an environment for different kinds of sea creatures from the smallest to the biggest of every kind.

Aside from fishes of different kinds, the PH waters are also home to lobsters, shrimps, and several other crustaceans. There were several times in the past when Filipino fisherfolks caught some of the biggest crustaceans ever caught in the country.

Recently, the said scenario took place again as fishermen in Ilocos Sur caught a giant lobster weighing four (4) kilos. It was specifically fished in Barangay Teppeng in Sinait.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the said four-kilo lobster was caught by the fishermen relatives of Honeyleth Rafanan. According to her, a lot of people wanted to buy it. The one who was able to purchase the said sea creature was also living in the said barangay and it was bought at Php 2,000.00.

Rafanan said that it is not the first time that a huge sea creature of this kind was caught in the waters near their barangay. In February 2020, one that weighed three (3) kilos was also caught by the fisherfolks.

Based on the report, Ilocos Sur Provincial Fishery Officer Martin Allayban expressed that the four-kilo creature caught in Sinait is an edible ornate spiny lobster. It is one of the biggest lobsters in the Philippines. It is also among the most expensive.

According to Allayban, the said type of creature specifically its kind can weigh more than four (4) kilos. The price for each kilo may reach Php 4,000.00.
