The Huawei Mate 40 RS Porsche Design was announced on October 22, 2020, and released on November 4, 2020. The smartphone is built with a glass front, a ceramic back, and an aluminum frame.

The dimension of the device is 162.9 x 75.5 x 10.1 mm and weighs 234 grams. It supports single SIM (nano-SIM) or hybrid dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by).

Mate 40 RS Porsche Design comes in a 6.76 inches screen size and the display is OLED capacitive touchscreen that provides 1344 x 2772 pixels resolution. Huawei Mate 40 RS Porsche Design is powered by Kirin 9000 5G Octa-core processor while the graphics processing unit is Mali-G78 MP24. The phone runs on the Android 10 + EMUI 11 operating system. It comes in variants such as 256GB + 8GB RAM, 256GB + 12GB RAM, and 512GB + 12GB RAM.

It is fueled with a non-removable Li-Po 4400 mAh battery + fast charging 50W + reverse charging 5W. Mate 40 RS Porsche Design is available in three colors: Collector Edition, Ceramic Black, and Ceramic White.

Sensors on the phone include Face ID, fingerprint (under display, optical), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, barometer, compass, infrared thermometer, and color spectrum. It also features an Infrared port, NFC, GPS with dual-band A-GPS, GALILEO, GLONASS, BDS, QZSS, NavIC, Bluetooth 5.2, USB OTG, and USB Type-C 3.1.
