Governors, Mayors & Brgy Captains Now Included in COVID-19 Vaccination Priority List, According to DILG
The Department of the Interior and Local Government said that governors, mayors, and barangay captains are now included in vaccination priority list.
On Thursday (March 25, 2021), DILG Undersecretary Epimaco Densing III said that the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases approved his request to include the government officials on the priority list.
Densing said that the officials are now considered as “A4) after IATF approved his request through the Recovery Cluster to move up the government officials from B3 to A4. The government officials and other essential workers were previously under B3 classification.
“All 1,715 governors and mayors, and 42,046 barangay captains, inaprubahan po natin na iangat po ang kanilang classification,” Densing said.
The uniformed personnel and employees enlisted as ‘essential workers’ during the enhanced community quarantine were now included in A4 category like frontline personnel who continue to serve the public amid the coronavirus pandemic.
On Wednesday (March 24, 2021), DILG has issued show cause orders to five mayors for receiving COVID-19 vaccine ahead of the individuals on the priority list. The mayors could face violation of Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, according to Densing.
