How’s Lani Misalucha now after battling a disease?
Asia’s Nightingale Lani Misalucha shared how’s her life now after she and her husband Noli went through a tough time fighting against bacterial meningitis.
Late last year, Lani revealed that she and her husband lost their hearing as one of the effects of the disease. This was more devastating to her because of her singing career. She had to use a hearing aid in order to hear in one ear.
In a recent episode of GMA’s Tunay Na Buhay, Lani shared what she and her husband went through because of bacterial meningitis. She spent 18 days fighting the disease while Noli had it for 20 days. Throughout that time, they fought together.
“Nung nagkasakit kami nang sabay, wala ‘yung anak namin. Mga apo namin nasa Las Vegas. Naging mas matatag, especially ngayon, meron kaming disability, no?” Noli said.
Amid the struggles, Lani Misalucha already had so many questions in her mind. She was still in disbelief that it happened to them and she was wondering if she could ever sing again.
The couple was not able to pinpoint the exact cause of the disease but the singer said that the bacteria was Streptococcus suis. Suis means swine and so they thought they might have got the disease from contaminated meat.
Lani admitted that what they went through was really depressing but by changing their mindset, they were able to surpass that down moment.
“Maraming options na nilatag sa amin, ano? So, antibiotic ‘yon na naka-ano sa swero and then nagkaroon na kami ng treatment ng steroids para sa inflammation ng mga nerves. We will look into hearing aid,” Lani Misalucha shared regarding the treatment options that were presented to them.
During that difficult time for Lani, having friends who showed support for her also mattered a lot.
