What happened during Tom Rodriguez’s proposal to Carla Abellana?
Kapuso actress Carla Abellana revealed the details of the proposal that Tom Rodriguez did and what she felt when he popped the question.
Last weekend, the Kapuso couple announced their engagement. Both of them shared the same photo on their respective Instagram accounts showcasing the ring on Carla’s finger. This brought excitement to the family and friends of Tom and Carla, as well as to their fans.
During a recent media conference after their engagement announcement, Tom revealed that the actual proposal happened back in October of 2020. He said that they chose to delay the announcement because of the COVID-19 situation in the country.
In the same interview, Carla Abellana revealed the details of the proposal that happened five months ago. She said that she had no idea that Tom Rodriguez would proposed to her on October 18. The number 18 is special to them because it was the date of their anniversary as boyfriend and girlfriend and the size of their ring is also 18, based on the article in PEP.
The actress said that she was surprised when they arrived at her mom’s house and there were a bunch of flowers and candles.
“When I realized it was for me, that Tom was proposing, I was just really staring at the flowers and the candles. Para akong nag-space out kasi ganoon pala ‘yon. Parang wala kang masyadong narinig, so I couldn’t even understand what Tom was saying,” she revealed.
Carla said that when she was able to process the situation, that was the time when she cried. She was emotional and one of the factors behind was the virtual presence of Tom’s family.
“Madaling-araw [3 a.m.] sa U.S. pero nakabantay sila sa proposal. Iyak ako nang iyak. Yung iyak ko, parang lola daw na iyak,” the actress shared.
When asked what entered into her mind when Tom popped the question, “Will you marry me?”, she said that she immediately said “yes”. Carla Abellana said that unlike in the movies that the girl couldn’t immediately answer, it was not the same for her as the proposal was the only thing they were waiting for to happen.
She also shared that they already have plans before the proposal and so when Tom asked her, it was an automatic “yes”.
