Boracay Ready to Accept Foreign Tourists, Aklan Governor Florencio Miraflores Says

Aklan Governor said that the popular toursist destination Boracay Island is now available for foreign tourists.

On Thursday (February 25, 2021), Aklan Governor Florencio Miraflores announced that the famous haven prepared all facilities need to accommodate foreign visitors in the island. The tourist spot has been accepting local visitors since October 2020.

Miraflores also said that they all tourist facilities including the quarantine facilities are ready in case some visitors test positive for the coronavirus disease. The island has no recorded cases of virus transmission since it has opened to public last year.

The governor also said that the reopening of resort to the foreign tourists might be dampen due to the delayed delivery of COVID-19 vaccine and new coronavirus variant.

The government official cited a date from the Malay Tourism Office stating that the resort has served 15,000 local tourists in December 2020 and it also served nearly 12,000 visitors last January 2021.

Kalibo government is also planning to be the first to roll out the vaccination program against coronavirus disease to the residents. Local vaccine czar Rey Villaruel also said that the municipality has been talking with vaccine manufacturers since last month.
