Boracay LGU Arrest 8 Tourists for Presenting Fake COVID-19 Test Results

Local authorities arrested 8 more tourists who arrived in Boracay Island after they discovered that they present fake COVID-19 test results.

Eight newly arrived tourists on the island of Boracay were arrested after being caught presenting a fake COVID-19 test result. According to the Boracay provincial inter-agency task force, 4 of them were first caught after they entered the island on Friday.

Boracay Tourists Fake Results

On Saturday, 4 more were arrested after it was discovered that they also used a fake RT-PCR test result. Based on the test results they showed, it allegedly came from Saint Luke’s Hospital in Metro Manila.

However, when seriously checked, the suspects did not have the names of the hospital results issued. Eight tourists were subjected to a 14-day quarantine at a facility in Kalibo town, Aklan.

Tourists are set to be charged with violating RA 11332 or Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act and Falsification of Document’s.

Meanwhile, Aklan Governor Florencio Miraflores instructed all hotels in the Boracay island resort to have their own quarantine facilities for their guests and employees.

This move to build its own facility was ordered after three tourists who entered the island tested positive for COVID-19 using fake RT PCR test results.

The Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of Tourism (DOT) are currently working with the local government of the Malay government on how to solve the problem of the entry of tourists who fake the results of the RT PCR test.
