All COVID-19 Mutation Cases Of Concern Recovered
ALL COVID-19 MUTATION CASES RECOVERED – According to the Department of Health (DOH) and the Philippine Genome Center (PGC), all cases of coronavirus mutations in Central Visayas had recovered.
Recently, health authorities were concerned due to the presence of coronavirus mutations in Central Visayas. Furthermore, PGC Executive Director Dr. Cynthia Saloma noted that two patients with mutations of concern were already cleared from quarantine.
Meanwhile, DOH Central Visayas Director Jaime Bernadas said that most cases of mutations had mild symptoms. Additionally, two were found to be asymptomatic. Moreover, he stated that every one of the patients should already be out in public.
According to an article from GMA, he said:
We will be looking back within and around their vicinity, increase or heighten surveillance for cases, and even look for the possible correlation between their locations and the community they are from so that we could get more surveillance samples
Yesterday, the DOH Region 7 reported that the PGC found two more transmissible strains of COVID-19 in Cebu. Saloma said both the E484K and N501Y were found in 31 out of 50 samples.
He emphasized that these two samples were of “global concern”. Currently, these mutations were found in the UK, Brazil, and South Africa Variants. Along with this, local government units have heightened measures to focus on contact tracing and expanding the capacity of health facilities.
