‘Drug Den’ In Dumaguete City Dismantled, Five Suspects Arrested

DUMAGUETE CITY – Police and PDEA operatives have dismantled a ‘drug den’ in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, and arrested five suspects.

According to Manila Bulletin, a report from the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (NORPPO) says that the suspects were identified as Noel Butanas, aged 50; Joshua Butanas, aged 28; Jayber Vilos, aged 25; Shazmel Jucom, aged 43; and Jocelyn Butanas, aged 49.

The five were nabbed during a buy-bust operation on Wednesday night on Gov. Larena Drive in Purok Ladrico 1, Barangay Taclobo. At the same time, an alleged drug den there, which was reportedly operated by a certain Noel Butanas, was dismantled there.

Retrieved from the operation were eight heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected illegal drugs, weighing more or less 12 grams with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of P81,600.

Also retrieved were eight disposable lighters, stainless blades, improvised glass tooters, tin foil, and a big sachet containing small transparent plastic packets with suspected shabu residue, cellphones, and other personal items.

Based on the report, the five suspects are currently under police custody and will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
