American National Stranded in NAIA Living in Food Given by Airport Workers
An 75-year-old American National stranded in Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) has been living with the foods given by workers.
Maurice Francis O’Connor has been staying in the airport for the past two weeks. He said that he missed his flight to Thailand. Airport security patrolling in Terminal 1 spotted O’Connor roaming the departure area two weeks ago.
According to the article of ABS-CBN New, O’Connor later went to the terminal’s arrival extension area. The security guard said, he occupies the front of a public comfort room at the arrival extension’s well-wishers’ area.
“Sa upuan din po sa departure area una siya natutulog dahil madalang po ang flight. Kitang-kita siya kaya po pinaalis namin, pero sa arrival extension area naman siya lumipat at sa upuan pa rin siya natutulog” an airport security guard told ABS-CBN News.

O’Connor occupied the two rows of seats that serve as his bed and space for his other things including his clothes. O’Connor said he has not bathed for the past 2 weeks and showed signs of depression.
Based on the report, he can’t give a straight answer when he was asked why he missed his flight. He just only said that he was married to a Thai, served the US Army, and fought in the Vietnam war.
Meanwhile, kind airport security personnel and janitors are contributing money and food to feed him. In return, the foreign national is grateful to the airport personnel and said he was satisfied with his current situation.
“The airport workers here have made my stay easier here at the airport, I can not ask for more, they are my guardian angel,” he said.
He is being fed at least four times by NAIA’s employees, whom he considers as his own children. As of writing, O’Connor is still at NAIA Terminal 1 and has no money for his food or his way back home.
