Maricel Laxa Pays Tribute to Late Father Tony Ferrer
TONY FERRER – Filipina actress and comedian Maricel Laxa penned a eulogy for her late father Tony Ferrer.
The “James Bond of the Philippines” Tony Ferrer died on Saturday, January 23, 2020. He was 86. His daughter Mutya Laxa-Buencuseso confirmed his passing in an Instagram post.
According to her, the veteran actor spent his last days “by the care of his San Antonio family, the love of his children, and the joy and songs of his grandchildren.” She also said there will be no public viewing of his remains.
Ferrer died in his sleep due to diabetic complications and heart illness. His daughter Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan penned a eulogy for him.
Maricel Laxa took to her Instagram account to celebrate her father’s life and career as one of the icons in the entertainment industry. She wrote, “Mission Accomplished.”
“On 23 January 2021, our beloved father, friend, and Philippine movie industry treasure ANTONIO D. LAXA popularly known as TONY FERRER joined our Creator quietly in his sleep and in the comfort of his home. He was 86 years old.
“Our Dad as Tony Ferrer became an action movie superstar with his most iconic role as Tony Falcon in the Agent X44 movie series. He appeared in 203 movies”

Tony Ferrer was born on June 12, 1934, in Macabebe, Pampanga. He was dubbed as the Philippines’ James Bond after starring in the film series Agent X-44.
In 1967, Ferrer acted in a Hollywood film titled “The Vengeance of Fu Manchu” with horror icon Christopher Lee. Aside from being an actor, he is also a producer and a film director.
