Lingayen Town in Pangasinan Reimposes Liquor Ban Due to Rise of COVID-19

Lingayen, the capital town of Pangasinan has imposed a liquor ban in the city due to the increasing COVID-19 cases.

Since last year, the coronavirus disease continues to spread in various countries all around the world. The pandemic has even reached the Philippines and affects millions of unprepared Filipino people.

The Philippine government is implementing stricter rules and regulations to fight the contagious disease. The authorities have also implementing new measures amid the health crisis.

Mayor Leopoldo Bataoil has issued an executive order implementing a liquor ban throughout the entire town of Lingayen starting on Thursday (January 14, 2021) until March 31, 2021. Lingayen is the fourth LGU in Pangasinan to reimpose liquor ban.

The executive order covers the sale and distribution of any alcoholic beverages. Consumption of liquors are also prohibited in public places because it will allegedly lead to defiance of physical distancing measures.

As of this writing, Lingayen town has 24 active COVID-19 cases. The new measure aims to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease. Aside from Lingayen, Dagupan City, Calasiao, and Binmaley have also reimposed the ban on liquors.
