Manila to Implement Liquor Ban During Observance of Traslacion 2021, According to NCRPO

The National Capital Region Police Office NCRPO said that the Manila would implement liquor ban during the Traslacion 2021.

On Friday (January 8, 2021), NCRPO spokesperson Police Lieutenant Colonel Jenny Tecson announced that the local government of the city of Manila would implement a liquor ban during the annual religious event.

Recson said that the implementation of the liquor ban would take effect at 12 midnight of January 9, 2021 (Saturday). He also clarified that the measure only covers Manila area and not the entire Metro Manila.

“Manila area only, hindi po ang buong Metro Manila. Kung saan po ang lugar na pagdadausan ng Feast of the Black Nazarene,” Tecson said.

Meanwhile, Quiapo Church has canceled the annual procession of the Black Nazarene, which has been a part of the Filipino culture and traditions over the past few decades. The traditional “Pahalik” has been also canceled and replaced by other activities.

The liquor ban and cancelation of other activities aim to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease during the annual religious festival.
