Traslacion 2021: Thousands of Devotees Flock to Quiapo Church to Join the Feast of the Black Nazarene
Thousands of Filipino devotees have flocked to Quiapo Church for the annual Feast of the Black Nazarene or Traslacion 2021.
On Saturday (January 9, 2020), the Catholic devotees are celebrating the Feast of the Black Nazarene amid the coronavirus pandemic. The faithful crowd attend masses just to show their faith.
The Manila Police District and National Capital Region Police Office have deployed around 6,000 police officers and 1,000 force multipliers. The police force had been ordered to ensure that the health protocols are being observed during the religious festival.
Archdiocese of Manila apostolic administrator Bishop Broderick Pabillo is glad that thousands of devotees continue to show their support to the feast of the wooden statue over the past few decades.
“The Black Nazarene is a magnet, a very strong magnet that attracts people to him, We couldn’t go to Luneta (this year), there is no traslacion procession, yet the people continue to approach the Black Nazarene,” Pabillo said.
Pabillo was also surprised about the numbers of devotees who personally attend the masses. The priest also said that people could also attend the online Masses here in the country and even abroad.
