MPD Warns to Arrest Health Protocol Violators During Traslacion 2021

The Manila Police District (MPD) warned to arrest devotees who will violate the health protocols during the Traslacion 2021.

On Friday (January 8, 2021), MPD chief Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco advised the devotees who will attend the Feast of the Black Nazarene on Saturday (January 9, 2021) to strictly follow the safety protocols.

Francisco said that devotees who will violate the safety protocols such as physical distancing and other quarantine guidelines might be arrested. He explained that the authorities want to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus disease.

“Sa pagtatalaga ng napakaraming pulis na ‘yan, sila ay nandoon para magbantay ng physical distancing, pagsasabihan ang ating mga deboto kung sila ay [lumabag], i-maintain talaga ang physical distancing dahil nandiyan talaga ang panganib ng COVID. Kung sila ay makulit at hindi mapagsabihan, dadating tayo sa arestuhan,” Francisco said.

The MPD head said that the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology’s buses will be used as temporary detention facility for health protocol violators during the observance of the annual religious event.

The authorities also reminded the devotees to always wear face masks and face shields as well as observing physical distancing measures. People who were 15 years old below and 65 years old above are prohibited to join the activity.
