A biopic of April Boy Regino is in the works
The life of OPM singer April Boy Regino is set to be featured in an “inspirational” biopic.
April Boy passed away last November 2020 and this brought sadness to the music industry. After battling his health conditions, he finally succumbed to his illness.
In a recent article from ABS-CBN, a production company announced that a biographical film is set to be done featuring the life of the late OPM singer.
Director Efren Reyes said that this project will inspirational with the working title ‘Di Ko Kayang Tanggapan’, from the most popular song of April Boy.
Reportedly, Marynette Gamboa of Waterplus Productions, who is a friend of the singer, will finance the project. She also released a photo that was taken during their contract signing at the house of April Boy Regino in Marikina.
Reyes shared that his friendship with the singer and film producer began when they had the chance to bond in Mindanao. “Natuwa ako sa dami ng makukulay na kwento niya. Sabi ko ang gandang gawan ng pelikula buhay mo,” the veteran actor-director said.
“He sets an example to all aspiring talents in terms of facing struggles. Patunayan mo sarili mo, kahit ano mangyari. He did it on his own, walang nagturo sa kanya. Everything that he aspired for, nagawa niya,” he added.
Efren Reyes also shared that one of the highlights in the upcoming biopic is the part of the life of April Boy Regino when he rediscovered his faith.
The director added that he saw the need to tell the story of the late OPM singer as he saw what his life was.
As of the writing, there are no final names yet for the cast members in the biopic.
