In an interview, PSG Chief Durante revealed they received vaccination independently.
PSG CHIEF DURANTE – Presidential Security Group chief Jesus Durante III reveals they vaccinated themselves and done it as early as September.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Monday confirmed that the members of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) have already received the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) vaccine. AFP spokesperson Marine Maj. Gen. Edgard Arevalo said this is in owe to their mission and function.
It was an unregistered COVID-19 vaccine and Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque justified that those were just tokens. It is accordingly an exemption under the law – the Republic Act 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act. The vaccination of the top Duterte government officials and soldiers are done even before the health workers across the Philippines could.
And in recent interview of Presidential Security Group chief Jesus Durante III with ANC on Wednesday, he revealed that no one did the vaccination to them. They independently did it and it was accordingly so easy. He said, “It is within our compound. It is within our command. We took the risk. As I’ve said, we are soldiers so we have to take risk to accomplish our mission.”
He did not reveal what vaccine they used but they did some research about it before using it. Also, some members have accordingly received the vaccination as early as September. Some people online said that what has done is a “total disregard for their safety”.
Meanwhile, Robin Padilla believed that it is just rightful for the PSG to get the vaccine first as they are the ones protecting the head of the country, President Rodrigo Duterte.
