Tourists Who Submitted Fake Swab Tests Arrested While On Boracay Vacation

TOURISTS WITH FAKE SWAB TESTS – Upon the reopening of the country’s most popular tourist destination, several health protocols were imposed to ensure tourists safety.

However, some tourists decided to skimp out on the requirements just to get the vacation they so desperately wanted. As a result, local authorities quickly arrested the tourists who passed faked COVID-19 swab test results.

According to an article from CNN, five tourists gave fake coronavirus swab test results in a bid to enter Boracay Island. Unfortunately for them, they were quickly arrested on Monday after authorities found out their documents were merely photocopied.

Furthermore, authorities reported that the group was from Luzon. However, of the six documents presented, only one was found to be authentic. Additionally, the accredited testing center where they allegedly took the test verified that one of them was swabbed.

As per the article, the six tourists hid in their hotel room when they heard that the police were after them. Afterward, the police said they surrender on Monday evening.

Because of the incident, Aklan Police Provincial Director PCol Esmeraldo Osia Jr. emphasized that the arrest should serve as a warning for suspects who want to cheat health protocols to enter the island. During a press conference, Osia asserted: “Makakapasok man sila, mahuhuli pa din“.

Currently, the arrested suspects are now under quarantine in one of Kalibo’s facilities. Afterward, they would undergo swab testing and a mandatory 14-day quarantine.
