Mall Operators to Minors Spotted in Malls: ‘Sisitahin, di huhulihin’

Mall Operators to Rebuke Minors Spotted in Malls Instead of Arresting Them

Several mall operators assured the public they would rebuke instead of arresting ‘minors’ who will be caught inside malls.

Earlier this week, Metro Manila Mayors have decided to ban young children and minors inside malls and other business establishments to prevent the possible spread of the coronavirus disease in the region.

However, the council would consider the minors who have ‘essential’ transactions inside malls such as visiting a clinic or buying medicines. Those who have no ‘essential’ transactions are not allowed.

SM Supermalls Senior Vice President for Operations Bien Mateo ordered the mall guards and employees to prohibit minors from entering the establishment in compliance with the health protocols.

“Ang direksyon namin sa lahat ng SM sumunod sa itinakda ng LGU na talagang pagsabihan at pagbawalan ang mga menor de edad na pumunta sa mga mall so meron nakalagay sa batas na except that getting essentials,” Mateo said.

Robinsons Malls Regional Operations Manager Myron Yao said that they have assigned guards to roam around the establishment to ensure that no minors can enter the mall or to ensure that minors with valid reason would have an essential transaction.
