Metro Manila Mayors Have Yet To Make Decision on Limitations for Minors in GCQ Areas

METRO MANILA MAYORS – The mayors of the different cities have yet to decide if minors will be allowed in shopping malls or not.

A lot of cities in the Philippines will remain under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) until December 31. COVID-19 is still present in the country and everyone must still be extra careful most especially amid the holiday season.

Health experts have warned people to be careful as COVID-19 does not observes a holiday. There might be a surge in cases again if people will not observe the protocols and will flock again while the pandemic is still present.

Among those that will remain under GCQ is Metro Manila. Christmas parties in public and private companies are also not allowed this holiday season to prevent big gatherings.

Recently, there were different reports on allowing minors in shopping malls this holiday season. Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Ano previously expressed that kids will be allowed in malls but it must be through the city ordinances.

Based on a recent report on ABS-CBN News, the Metro Manila mayors have yet to decide on whether or not to allow the minors in shopping malls this holiday season. A virtual meeting was held by the council last night.

According San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora who is one of those who attended the meeting, the Metro Manila mayors have agreed to wait for the opinion of the medical experts. After it, they will decide on whether or not to allow minors to shop in malls amid the GCQ measure.

“Importante po na may medical basis ang aming magiging desisyon o rekomendasyon sapagkat kaligtasan ng ating mga mamamayan po ang nakasalalay dito,” Mayor Zamora said.
