Meet Jomel Lapides: Top 1 Of PLE 2020 and Nursing Board Exam 2011

JOMEL LAPIDES – Here’s the humble background of Jomel Lapides, the topnotcher of the 2020 Physician Licensure Examination and Nurses Licensure Examination in 2011.

To pass the board exam is already a satisfying feeling as all of your hard work and sacrifices have been paid off. But to pass on top out of thousands examiners in two different professional examinations is a next level of happiness. Meet Jomel Lapides, the man who passed both 2020 Physician Licensure Examination and Nurses Licensure Examination in 2011 as a topnotcher.

His success now is backed up with his perseverance and his humble beginnings. Lapides is from a family of five living in a two-bedroom apartment situated at a relocation site in Rodriguez, Rizal. His father is a construction worker and doing part-time jobs to provide enough for them.

Topping the board way back in 2011 has led him to a lot of opportunities abroad but he chose to stay here in the country and hoped to land a work in Philippine General Hospital (PGH). He is a graduate of Philippines College of Nursing (UPCN) in Manila for his bachelor’s degree in Nursing and University of the Philippines-Manila for Doctor of Medicine program.

And in a double celebration, his girlfriend, Baby Lyn Ann Tanalgo, also passed this year’s PLE. She is a graduate of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila College of Medicine in June 2019. Lapides scored 88.67 percent and along with him on the top list is Tiffany Uy, who holds the highest grade in UP Diliman with 1.004 general weighted average when she graduated in 2015.
