PWD Donates P12k to Typhoon Victims in Marikina Despite Life Status

A person with a disability or PWD with a charitable heart donates saved money from begging on people to the victims of typhoon Ulysses.

Recently, many netizens were touched when photos of a PWD went viral after Jasper Justo, a volunteer in the city in relief operations, shared he donated more than P12,000 to the victims of Typhoon Ulysses in Marikina City.

According to Jasper Justo, they thought that Romeo Menil or “Mang Romy” who was being led by a man to enter City Hall would ask for help. Justo and his colleagues were said to be surprised when Mang Romy and his councilor presented him with a package from Antipolo.

The package of Mang Romy contains P12,390 which he begged to donate to the Marikina city government for those affected by the typhoon.

 “Itong si Mang Romy Menil… namamalimos po pero hindi po para sa kanya kundi para po pala sa mga nasalanta ng Bagyong [Ulysses] sa Marikina.”

“Nagulat kami lumapit sila Mang Romy at ‘yung Kagawad kay Mayor Marcy Teodoro para po makausap at para po daw magbigay ng tulong at personal na i-abot ‘yung pera na naipon ni Mang Romy sa kanyang pamamalimos sa kalsada,” Justo said in an interview with ABS-CBN News.

Justo was touched by what Mang Romy did and said that what he did was inspiring. It is said that those who are there almost cried because of the PWD’s donation.

“Illness is not a barrier to help… Instead of spending it for his needs, he provided it for the people of Marikina who were devastated by Typhoon Ulysses,” he added.

It can also be seen in the photos shared with ABS-CBN News that the barangay chairman in Mambugan, Antipolo even signed the donation. Marikina Mayor Marcy Teodoro was also touched by Mang Romy and said that he hoped others would do what he did.

Justo also allegedly came to Mang Romy’s house in Barangay Mambugan in Antipolo, Rizal, and said hello. The resident was just surprised that he went viral on social media because of what he did.
