PAGASA – Tonyo Leaves PAR, Ulysses Will Enhance Easterlies This November 9, 2020

PAGASA – Here are the following latest updates from the state weather bureau PAGASA, on this day November 9, 2020 (Monday).

The 5 AM severe weather bulletin from the state weather bureau says that Tonyo has left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Monday but will enhance the easterlies along with Tropical Depression Ulysses, which will bring rains over several areas in Luzon.

According to GMA News, Tropical Depression Tonyo has become stronger and developed into a tropical storm. It is internationally named Etau as of 2 AM. It has left the Philippine Area of Responsibility at 4 AM.

The weather will bring moderate to heavy rains over Kalayaan Islands despite moving westward over the West Philippine Sea toward the southern portion of Vietnam. It is to make landfall over the southern part of Vietnam on Tuesday morning or afternoon.

Tonyo and Tropical Depression Ulysses will enhance the easterlies, which will bring moderate to heavy rains over Babuyan Islands, mainland Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Norte, Aurora, and the northern portion of Quezon including Polillo Islands.

Metro Manila, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and the rest of Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, and Calabarzon will face light to moderate with at times heavy rains.

Based on the report, the bureau warned that flash floods or landslide may occur during times of heavy or prolonged rainfall in areas susceptible to these hazards.

Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, and the northern portion of mainland Cagayan will experience strong to gale-force winds due to the Northeast Monsoon or Amihan, which is enhanced by Tonyo.

Eastern Visayas and Caraga will face cloudy with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. Meanwhile, the rest of Visayas and Mindanao will face partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to thunderstorms.

The center of Tonyo was last spotted at 710 km west of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro as of 4 AM, which is currently outside PAR.

It is packed with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour. It is moving westward at 30 kilometers per hour.

On the other hand, the center of Ulysses was located at 800 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte as of 4 AM. It is packed with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 44kilometers per hour. It is moving northwest at 15 kilometers per hour.
