Presidents Are Also Entitled to Stay Safe During Typhoons, Senator Gordon Says
#NasaanAngPangulo – Senator Gordon said that Presidents are entitled to rest and stay safe at the height of typhoons.
Last weekend, #NasaanAngPangulo or “where the president” trends on Twitter as the Filipino social media users are questioning why the country’s leader failed to address the nation ahead of the impending typhoon Rolly.
Some netizens are giving bad impression to President Duterte’s absence as he is not seen in public amid the height of Typhoon Rolly’s devastation, which causes damage to properties and displaced thousands of people.
On Monday (November 2, 2020), Senator Richard Gordon sees nothing wrong with President Rodrigo Duterte resting and staying at his home in Davao City. He even quoted that God rest on the seventh day.
“Each one to his own taste and judgment… Even God said you should rest on the 7th day, everybody has the duty to protect the president of the Philippines. The president will not go if there is a threat to his life and a threat can be physical or can be a health threat,” Gordon said.
Gordon defended the president and explained that he is health compromised and that he seen nothing wrong as long as Mr. Duterte can do his work properly.
