PAGASA Releases Latest Update About Tropical Storm Siony

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that the Tropical Storm Siony maintained its strength while Ilocos Norte is now preparing for the calamity.

On Monday (November 2, 2020), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather updates about Tropical Storm Siony with international name Atsani.

PAGASA reported that Siony has maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 80 kph. Siony was last spotted at 620 km east of Aparri, Cagayan with a speed of 40 kph moving west northwestward.

The tropical storm is also expected to slow down and become almost stationary by Tuesday (November 3) or Wednesday (November 4). “Due to the projected erratic movement of this system in the next 48 hours, there is high degree of uncertainty in the forecast track,” PAGASA said.

The weather agency said Cagayan Valley areas might be placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 on Thursday (November 5) as it is expected to make a landfall. The weather disturbance would also bring light to moderate and occasionally heavy rains over Batanes, Cagayan, and Isabela.

The weather bureau also warned the residents in affected area to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods and landslides during prolonged rainfall.
