PAGASA: Typhoon Rolly May Be Raised To Signals 3 And 4

PAGASA Forecasts Rolly To Become Super Typhoon

PAGASA: TYPHOON ROLLY – Following the onslaught on Quinta, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services forecasted Typhoon Rolly to become a Super Typhoon.

Furthermore, this could potentially lead to Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals (TCWS) No.3 and 4 in some areas of the country in the following days. However, no local government unit is current placed under TCWS.

Still, to prepare for strong near-gale conditions due to the typhoon, TCWS No. 1 may be imposed on several provinces in Bicol come Friday evening. According to an announcement, PAGASA said:

Given that it is likely for this typhoon to continue intensifying prior to landfall, the highest possible TCWS that will be raised throughout the passage of this typhoon will be TCWS No. 3 or 4

Moreover, the weather bureau’s weather specialists Loriedin Dela Cruz said there was a “rapid intensification” of the weather disturbance in the previous day as it quickly became a typhoon.

According to an article from Inquirer, she said:

In the next two days bahagya pong susubsob ito, bahagya pong patimog kanluran ang kanyang direksyon kung kaya’t bababa ang kanyang lokasyon sa susunod na dalawang araw patungo sa karagatan malapit sa Kabikulan

She added that even though typhoon won’t make landfall on Bicol, its diameter would still hit the region. As such, it remains a possibility that strong winds and rains could cause an increase in the TCWS.
