BOC Port Of Clark Seized Illegal Drugs Worth P1.6 Million
BOC PORT OF CLARK – The Bureau of Customs recently seized drug tablets which are worth at about P1.6 million.
According to a report from Inquirer, the 988 pieces of smuggled drug tablets were declared as an “air humidifier” and arrived at the said area from Milton Keynes in the United Kingdom on September 1.
BOC said that a non-intrusive examination of the said shipment showed images of various tablets similar that were similar to the previously apprehended drugs, which called for a physical examination of the subject shipment which yielded an air humidifier and, as mentioned, 988 pieces of the said tablets.
They were confirmed to have the presence of methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), which is considered a dangerous drug under Republic Act No. 9165 upon release of results from laboratory testing and chemical analysis of the shipment.
A Warrant of Seizure and Detention was then issued against the shipment for
violation of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA) in relation to the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The shipment was also turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for proper disposition, based on the report.
BOC added that this is, by far, the eighteenth shipment of illegal drugs that the Port of Clark seized. Overall, they confiscated P34-million worth of prohibited drugs this year 2020.
