Cavite Gov Asks For “Little Compassion” For Village Officials
CAVITE GOV ASKS FOR COMPASSION – Governor Jovnic Remulla asked the public to give the village officials who were caught doing indecent acts on a Zoom meeting for “a little compassion”.
However, the Governor said that he was not defending the actions of the officials. He emphasized that what they did was “inexcusable and ignorant”. Instead, he said that the public should at least give them a little compassion.
I am sure the families involved are wounded and hurting deeply. Dala nila ang kahihiyan na ito habang buhay (They will carry this shame for life). The humiliation alone is enough punishment for those involved,” he pointed out.
According to an article from Inquirer, Remulla asserted that he will not lecture people about morality. “Let those who are perfect in every way judge another’s act. Let those who have never sinned be the first to render an opinion”, he added.
Additionally, he cited how the Filipino are the number 1 gossipers in the world. Moreover, he emphasized that a small mistake could lead to gossip around the town that could last for days.
As per the article, he explained that this was one of the reasons why some Filipinos don’t immediately succeed. He said that rather than doing something to better their lives, people instead prioritize gossip.
Meanwhile, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) said it would investigate the possible charges and violations to be filed against the officials.
