How COVID-19 Pandemic Affected Richard Yap’s Restaurant Business
RICHARD YAP – Actor Richard Yap opened up how the COVID-19 pandemic affected his restaurant business.
Filipino actor and entrepreneur Richard Yap rose to fame after playing the rich character in a defunct daytime drama series “Be Careful With My Heart.” In an interview with Tech Lifestyle Journal, he revealed that he has always been very entrepreneurial.
Richard worked for his dad after graduating in college then put up a stainless-steel business with his friend. Years later, he left his job in his father’s company to join the show business. He said his two careers work well together.
With the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic hurting business everywhere, Richard Yap recently admitted that his restaurant business was affected by the situation.
In an interview with Kapamilya star Toni Gonzaga for “I Feel You” on Sunday, the actor said that the pandemic has made it difficult for everybody especially to the Filipinos who are in danger of unemployment.

Richard Yap told the host that it was made more challenging by the closure of their home network ABS-CBN. He said he lost a lot of projects that could help him finance his restaurant business.
“‘Yung restaurant business, grabe ‘yung effect doon. It’s given us a lot of hardship especially to all our employees also kasi karamihan walang trabaho. Siyempre saan mo kukunin ‘yung ipambabayad mo ng every day necessities di ba…”
“Alam naman natin na nawalan din tayo ng mga projects because of what happened to our home network. That also caused a lot of stress not only for us but for everyone who’s been working there. Dagdag hirap talaga,” he added.
Despite the challenges of the pandemic, Richard Yap focuses on positive emotions with the help of his family. He also shared that the pandemic also turned into an opportunity to bring them closer.
“It has given us a lot of time to be together. It’s nice also, a break from our hectic schedules. At least may oras tayo with our family ngayon. Of course it’s very nice na magkakasama kami parati,” Richard said.
