Manila Mayer Isko Moreno Shuts Down Distributor, Elegant Fumes
ISKO MORENO SHUTS DOWN DISTRIBUTOR – Mayor Isko Moreno has ordered the closure of a Manila-based distributer for listing Manila as a province of China.
Last week, the product “Ashley Shine” of distributer “Elegant Fumes” went viral for listing Manila as a province of China. After being called out by thousands of netizens, Elegant Fumes posted a response on their page showing photos of the same product but without Manila listed as a part of China.
The incident got a lot of traction and even lawmakers heard of the issue. As such, Puwersa ng Bayaning Atleta (PBA) Party-list Rep. Jericho Nograles said lawmakers should impose a punishment for mislabeling on consumer products.
Moments after, according to an report from the Philippine Star, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno ordered the shutdown of the business establishment found in Binondo.
Elegant fumes neither denied nor confirmed the truth of the issue. Instead, they merely posted on their page a photo of the product with the caption:
“To all our valued customers, Here is our answer to your inquiry.”
