Cavite Governor On Transport Ban In Province: “Very Unwise Decision”
CAVITE GOVERNOR – Cavite governor Jonvic Remulla said that the restriction of transport in Cavite province is a “very unwise decision”.
According to ABS-CBN News, The inter-agency task force (IATF) recently restricted public transport to some 3.7 million people residing in Cavite province as it is currently under the second strictest lockdown or modified enhanced community quarantine.
Remulla also announced that all modes of public transport could still operate to serve factories and essential workers.
The IATF, however, ordered the police in the province to strictly enforce the ban on public transport. Rmulla said, adding that he would respect the IATF’s “very unwise decision” even if it will affect the manufacturing industry of the most populous province in the Calabarzon region.
“Sa aking mga kababayan, ako po ay humihingi ng paumanhin.”
“I tried my best to serve your interest, as well as the Province and the Country. Unfortunately, the people in charge see things differently.”
The said province, as well as Metro Manila, Laguna, Rizal and Quezon will be under MECQ until August 18 in order to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019.
Based on the report, under MECQ, public transport will be halted and domestic flights are restricted.
Residents are urged to stay home unless they need to purchase essential goods or exercise outdoors.
