Public Transportation to be Limited Under MECQ Starting August 4, 2020, DOTr Says

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) said that public transportation will be limited under MECQ starting August 4, 2020.

President Rodrigo Duterte announced that the National Capital Region (NCR), Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, and Laguna will revert to modified enhanced community quarantine starting Tuesday (August 4) for 15 days.

On Monday (August 3, 2020), the Transportation Department said that public transportation will not be allowed anymore when Metro Manila and its nearby areas were placed under modified enhanced community quarantine.

MECQ

DOTr also said that public transport in the areas under MECQ would be limited only. However, several private vehicles several public shuttles for frontline workers would be allowed.

Here is the list of public transportation prohibited to operate under MECQ:

  • Jeepney
  • Taxi
  • Bus
  • TNVS
  • Tricycles

Here are the private transportation allowed during MECQ:

  • Company Shuttle
  • Personal Vehicles
  • Bicycle
  • Motorcycle
  • e-Scooter

The agency announced that the operations of PNR, LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3 will remain suspended. DOTr also reminded the public that only authorized persons outside of the residence with a valid identification card are allowed to go out.
