Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion is urging President Duterte to extend GCQ until the end of 2020.

On Friday (July 31, 2020), President Rodrigo Duterte announced the extension of the General Community Quarantine over Metro Manila and 12 other areas until August 15, 2020 amid the rising cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines.

The government would implement more health protocols but may ease the restriction on more business establishments. The health crisis leaves millions of Filipino jobless as the government imposes stricter rules and regulations.

Recently, Joey Concepcion urges Mr. Duterte to extend the General Community Quarantine until the end of the year. Concepcion that it could help businessmen and entrepreneurs to plan.

“The question should not be [whether] we are retaining it every 15 days. We have to be able to retain it to the end of the year,” Concepcion said.

The presidential adviser explained that declaring any Enhance Community Quarantine could be disastrous for the economy because August is the start of higher demand due to the upcoming Christmas Season.

Meanwhile, President Duterte announced that the remaining parts of the country will be under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) until August 15, 2020.
