LTO Issues Show Cause Order to Driver, Bus Firm for Over Speeding and Hitting Barrier
Land Transportation Office (LTO) issues a show cause order for the bus firm for over speeding on the bus lane and damaging concrete barriers.
Another city bus operator has been placed under a 90-day preventive suspension by the LTO. This because one of the buses of the MSJ Tours has damaged several concrete barriers placed along EDSA-Santolan on Monday.
According to the report of Manila Bulletin, the incident was recorded in the dashcam video and was reuploaded to social media sites. The bus driver who was recorded on video over-speeding along EDSA’s bus lane and damaging concrete barriers.
The Department of Transporation (DOTr) denounced the firm as the bus driver, Jervin Mamac, with conduction sticker number U1 L782, for severely violating traffic rules on the road.

Mamac was also accused of violating Section 25 or the Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle and Section 48 or Reckless Driving of the Republic Act 4136 known as the Land Transportation and Traffic Code. Mamac is set to face the charges in the hearing on Wednesday.
Based on the report, DOTr said that the LTO and the Land Transporation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will immediately conduct an investigation regarding the incident.
DOTr added that this was the third time of bus lane accident and public utility bus is involved. This is the third time that public bus has committed an “act of recklessness” on EDSA in the past days.
The DOTr reiterates, “Let this serve as a warning to all our road transport partners that the DOTr, LTFRB, and LTO will never tolerate this irresponsible and reckless manner of driving by authorized PUBs which poses a danger to life and possible damage to property.”
Meanwhile, a public utility bus in Metro Manila was exposed overloading passengers despite the strict implementation of social distancing on public transportation, adding that the capacity of passengers was not properly observed amid the “new normal” scheme.
